She thought you couldn’t get pregnant the first time….He thought you couldn’t get someone pregnant the first time… were they right?

Myth: You can’t get pregnant the first time you have sex.

Mythbuster: Pregnancy is a risk anytime two people have sex. If you are engaging in vaginal sex there is a chance for pregnancy…even on your first time.  You aren’t protected from pregnancy (or getting someone pregnant) just because you’re inexperienced. FYI even though you can’t get pregnant through oral and anal sex, you can still get STDs.

Myth: You can’t get an STD the first time you have sex

Mythbuster: Truth time…anytime you are having unprotected sex you can get an STD, even if it is your first time. Among sexually active teens, 1 in 4 are likely to be infected with an STDs. The only 100% sure way not to get an STD is be abstinent. By that we mean not having oral, anal or vaginal sex. IF you are sexually active the only way to protect yourself is to use condoms (used correctly AND every time). Did you know that some sexually active people have STDs and don’t even know it? Some of the most common STDs don’t show symptoms. The only way to know for sure is to get tested. Find a clinic here.

Is two always better than one? Two best friends, two new pairs of chucks, two pieces of cake. Sounds good. What about condoms? Using two condoms at the same time must be more effective….right?!

Myth: Two condoms are better than one

Mythbuster:  Using two condoms at the same time increases the risk of condom failure. Condoms are very effective for pregnancy prevention when used correctly and every time. Using two condoms creates friction making them more likely to fail. Two isn’t always better than one afterall.
